Checking out the woods

Dear Parents,
As you can see from out pictures, we have been exploring the woods and searching for all kinds of bugs.  Ask your child what he/she has discovered on our journeys.

We have also been sharing those great baby pictures and the origin of our names.  We will share them as they come to school and hang them up on our bulletin boards.

Parents have asked about picture day for the MWF group.  We will have our class photo and individual pictures on October 22nd which is also the school "retake day."

Another question that has come up is about the All School Hike.  PreK will have our own hikes and picnics in the woods around our school.  We are getting to love our "ourdoor classroom" and feel very comfortable on the trails.

Some days to keep in mind:  Thursday, October 2nd - Open School Night and our tentative Family Fun Night at the Bair Farm on October 9th.  More details and confirmation will follow.

Spanish comes to Prekindergarten and Name Homework

September 7, 2014

Dear Parents,

We have been busy exploring the materials in our classroom and I posted some pictures on our new blog.  Go to emontpelierschool.org and click on School, Classrooms, Preschoolthen “follow by email.”  Once you are there, sign in with your email address and you will receive notification every time I post something.

I wanted to give you some great news.  Your children will now be participating in the Spanish program!  Once a week, our Spanish teacher,Ashley Gray, will be joining us in our classroom.  Stay tuned for some words and phrases in Spanish that might make their way to your home.

There is something else I wanted to mention that you might not have thought about when shopping for clothing.
This tidbit is mostly for parents of boys.  Please think about dressing your child in easy to pull down pants or shorts.  Forget about those cool belts or pants that have a fly and tricky snaps!  When it’s time to use the bathroom -- seconds count!

Homework Assignment:  Please send in a baby picture of your child and a little statement about how you chose your child’s name.  We will be sharing these during our meeting time and then hanging them up on our new bulletin boards.  Thanks so much.

I hope you all have a great weekend.

Hopes and Dreams Letter

August 30, 2014

Dear Parents,
Pre-kindergarteners got off to a wonderful start!   They are learning the routines and seem to be excited to be part of our beautiful new community of learners.
I took lots of pictures of your children and want to share them with you.  A permission slip will be coming home that needs to be signed and will allow me to post these pictures on our blog.
This week, we will be talking about our hopes and dreams for our time in school.  See what your child has to say about this topic.  Feel free to email your own thoughts as well. After we gather this information, we will be creating rules that will promote an environment that allows each of us to reach these goals.
Well, that is all the homework for now. I hope you have a restful weekend.
