Farewell to January

Keeping track of the days

The Snowball Greeting  - paper snowballs contain student's names and as each ball is opened the student is greeted.

The Shoe Greeting- everyone takes off one shoe and when a student picks up a shoe he/she has to greet the owner.

A virtual field trip to the zoo in Kansas with the afternoon group.  We got to see the animals depicted in Jan Brett's The Mitten.

happy new year!

It didn't take long for students to reconnect after the holiday break and just enjoy being with one another.   We welcome a new student, Ezra, to our Tuesday/Thursday class.  We're so glad he has joined us.

This week we explored some wooden pieces that contain  big lines, little lines, big curves and little curves.  These pieces create captial letters and right now we're having fun putting them together to see what we discover.

We also have been enjoying some mystery counting bags at table time.

Our sensory table now has some beautifully colored rice.  Ask your child how we changed plain white rice into an intersting rainbow of colors.

Do we look like unicorns?  We checked out the big wooden lines and put them in all different positions.

We're changing the white rice into those great colors.

We're adding the colored rice to the sensory table.

In PE we did some motor planning to get by Mr. Sherwin .

In music we listened carefully to the sounds made by hitting these tubes.

Showtime and Gifts for Giving

This week we created some lovely gifts for giving that will be making their way home to you on Monday or Tuesday.
We did lots of counting activities and number identification and had a great time with pattern block designs.
Our performances were stellar and the stars appreciated the audience and the hot chocolate with marshmallows.

Marble Art in progress-- you will see the results of this soon!

Winter Wonderland

This week we continued our mini-play practice and made snowmen using smalll, medium and large circles.  We also created some beautiful collages using a variety of materials.
We have been playing a game where we count a specific number of snowflakes and identify the numerals.  Other math activities included creating  a graph about our favorite things to do in the snow.

We continue to identify our own names and those of our classmates.

Please don't forget to join us next week if you can for our short play and a few songs in the music room. We will come back down to our classroom for some hot chocolate.

For our performance, WE WOULD LOVE IT IF ALL STUDENTS COULD WEAR A WHITE SHIRT (IT COULD BE AN ADULT T-SHIRT OR A CHILD'S SHIRT).

The MWF AM group will have its performance at 11:00 on 12/17
The MWF PM group will have its perfomance at 1:00 on 12/17
The TTH group will perform on 12/23 at 12:30 PM.

Have a wonderful weekend!
